New to Tarty Bikes, our own range of 'RD' (Read Design) components!
Want to find out more about how these products were designed and tested? Adam Read talks us through his design process here.
- Affordable, useful, and durable. The RD range of products!
- Designed by Tarty Bikes founder Adam Read, and tested by us.
- Made right here in the UK!
The RD (Read Design) range of parts was born from a desire to bring popular, and useful products back to the sport of trials. Designed to be economical, durable and easy to fit, all the RD parts are great problem solvers that look stylish, don't break the bank, and are made in the UK too! Created by Tarty Bikes founder, Adam Read, each RD part has been designed for a wide range of compatibility, with decades of trials knowledge applied to the design of each component. Parts intended for high stress use have been FEA stress tested, and physically tested by us on our own bikes, to ensure they offer performance and durability.
- Stainless steel disc rotor protector, designed by Tarty Bikes founder, Adam Read!
- A disc protector with some unique design features, compatible with a wide range of M10 axle hubs.
- Vertical 'U' shaped mounting slot allows the RD Brake Disc Protector to be fitted with the wheel still in the bike, and easily removed. No more difficulties keeping the disc protector, cams and spacers all in place while fitting the rear wheel!
- The 'U' shaped mounting slot as been angled to allow the protector to give maximum disc rotor coverage when riding on the back wheel.
- The vertical slot at the bottom of the RD Brake Disc Protector can be used to straighten your disc rotor. If you bend a disc rotor while riding, simply loosen the drive side wheel axle bolt or nut, remove the RD Brake Disc Protector with the wheel still in place, and straighten your disc before re-installing the protector. Never let a bent disc stop your ride again!
- Laser cut from durable SAE 304 stainless steel, right here in Bamber Bridge, UK.
- 304 stainless steel has a higher density compared to mild steel and aluminium of equivalent thickness, this means it resists deforming under load, increasing the life span of the part. This 3mm thick disc protector has a similar stiffness to a 9mm thick alloy disc protector of the same design.
- The elasticity of the steel means if you do bend your disc protector, it can be bent back multiple times without over stressing the material.
- Triangular cut-outs help save weight without compromising strength.
- Polished finish looks great with Tarty Bikes logo laser etched logo. You can also use a polishing compound to give your RD Disc Protector a stylish mirror finish!
- All RD products are collected direct from the manufacturer by Ben on his trusty single speed bicycle! Better for the environment, and Ben's fitness.
- To maximise compatibility with as many different frames as possible, the RD Brake Disc Protector fits on the inside of the dropout in conjunction with a correctly sized disc side hub spacer. To work out if the protector will work with your bike, simply measure the disc side hub spacer and subtract 3mm - this is the size of the
hub spacer you will need to use with the protector to maintain your current hub spacing. You can also cut or machine down your existing hub spacer to suit.
