Important Update for European Customers
From the 13th of December 2024, the GPSR regulation comes into force for all shipments to the European Union. Short for 'General Product Safety Regulation' this new rule requires manufacturers and shippers to provide extra documentation to ensure products entering the EU market are safe, fit for purpose, and easily traceable should a customer have an accident, or warranty claim in relation to a product.
These rules only apply to customers in the European Union. All other destinations are unaffected. To better help you understand what this means, we've broken the key information down into simple questions and answers, as follows.
"I'm a European customer, do I need to do anything different when ordering?"
A - No. Ordering will be exactly the same as it is now for European customers. Information on international orders for European customers can be found here, on our terms and conditions page.
"What does this mean for the products that I buy?"
A - There will be a few changes for European customers as follows.
1 - Some products will no longer be available to European customers in the New Year. These are products made by us, made by other small manufacturers, sold under our own brand, or supplied under a brand we own. This is because, for these small-batch (often hand made products), and products we make / supply under our own brand or a brand we own, it is not economical to create the necessary paperwork, and supply chain checks in order to meet GPSR regulation. These products will no longer be available for European customers browsing our site in the New Year.
2 - Products made by larger brands and manufacturers will continue to be available to European customers. These products will see a change to their labelling to make sure they are compliant with GPSR rules, and these companies will have the correct paperwork, and supply chain checks in place to make sure their products are GPSR compliant. If you can view a product on our site, you can buy it as normal.
"What if I have a problem with a product, what do I need to do?"
A - If you have a warranty problem with a product, please contact us as normal. This is the best way to resolve any problems. Products made in the UK will have direct contact information listed for the manufacturer European representative. This is someone in Europe who is responsible for ensuring all products entering the market from that manufacturer are safe and GPSR compliant. This person can be contacted in the event of more serious product issues, where a serious fault, or batch recall may be required, but the best way to resolve any issues with products purchased from us, is to contact us directly. For products made in the UK (which is outside of the European Union) we are required to list this information to be GPSR compliant.
"Where can I find contact information for product manufacturers, and their European representative?"
A - Where relevant, this information will be displayed in the 'Additional Information' section of our product listings. GPSR contact information will also be available on the manufacturer website. If this information is missing, and you require it, please get in touch, and we'll be happy to help you.
"What about products that are European, and made in Europe?"
A - Because these products are made in Europe, or are distributed from Europe, they are already GPSR compliant. If you need to contact a manufacturer, or supplier, of a European product, information to do so will be listed on their website. Again, the best way to resolve any issues is to contact us first.
"What about products that are not made in the UK, or EU?"
A - These products will also need to conform to GPSR rules. It will take some time for us to list the required information for these products, but manufacturers and suppliers of non UK or EU products will have contact information available on their websites, and you can contact us directly for any issues you may have with a non UK or EU product.
"Will GPSR cause problems with importing my order?"
A - No. Orders will ship to Europe as normal. As this is a new regulation, there may be changes as we move forward, and companies get to grips with the new rules, but we will keep our European customers updated on any changes that may affect their orders.
"Will products shipped from the UK still be Duty free?"
A - Only products which are made in the UK will be Duty free when shipped to Europe, as per the EU / UK post Brexit agreement. Any products up to the value of €150 will also be Duty Free, regardless of where they are manufactured. For more information on taxes on shipments to Europe, please read our Post Brexit International Shipping page.
GPSR is a new regulation which will take some time to adjust to for manufacturers, and suppliers like us. We will do our best to ensure European customers are updated about any changes that may affect their orders. Make sure to follow us on social media channels, and check in on our News Page for the latest updates about GPSR.
