Convert your Comas Race Freehub to frames with 116mm spaced drop-outs!
- Convert your Comas Race Freehub to fit 116mm spaced frames!
- No hub modification required!
- Two kits available, with and without cams.
- An axle conversion kit, made by us in house at Tarty Bikes, to allow you to fit a Comas Race Freehub rear hub to a frame with 116mm spaced rear drop-outs!
- The ideal solution if you want to run a free hub in your 116mm OLD frame!
-
No hub modification needed! Our kit can be fitted to a standard Comas Race Freehub without the need for irreversible modifications to the hub itself. Perfect if you plan on swapping wheels between frames!
- Two versions are available: one with snail cams, and one without, allowing you to fit the Comas Race Freehub to a wide range of 116mm OLD frames, whichever type of tensioner you are using.
- Main axle is turned from solid 6000 series aluminium bar, then drilled and threaded for M6 bolts. Steel M6 bolts and axle washers are supplied with both kits.
- Snail cam option is supplied with two
Tarty Bikes RD snail cams, one 12mm cam for the non drive side, and one 15mm for the drive side.
Please note: These cams are custom-made for this kit, if you need replacements, please get in touch!
- Both kits are supplied with the non drive side bolt fitted with thread lock. This makes installation easier, and only the drive side bolt needs to be tightened to fit or remove the hub from the frame with the kit installed.
- Total length of the axle for each kit is 128mm (+/- 1mm), which will fit the majority of frames.
If your frame has thinner dropouts, and you require an axle narrower than this, please get in touch before ordering. We can custom machine axle kits to perfectly match your frame dimensions!
- Weight: (Snail cam kit, including all parts pictured) 104g, (Standard kit, including all parts pictured) 58.1g

How to install
-
Snail Cam Kit:
- Remove the drive side spacer from the hub, and slot the spacer supplied over the end of the now expose axle. There will be a small amount of the hub axle protruding from the spacer, this is where the 15mm snail cam is installed.
- Slide the 12mm snail cam onto the axle towards the end with the bolt and axle washer installed.
- Insert the axle into the hub.
- Slot the 15mm snail cam onto the end of the hub axle on the drive side.
- Install the bolt and axle washer loosely on the drive side, and slot the hub into the frame. The 'stepped' ends of the axle kit are slotted into the drop-outs. Until the hub is secure, the axle kit will move in the hub. It helps to hold the hub with the snail cams on either side to keep everything together as the hub is installed into the frame.
- Tighten the drive side bolt to secure the hub and snail cams, then adjust chain tension as normal.
-
Standard Kit:
- Take the silver 4mm spacer supplied with the hub, and slide onto the axle towards the end with the bolt and axle washer installed. If you don't have this spacer, please get in touch, and we will be able to supply one for you!
- Insert the axle into the hub.
- Install the bolt and axle washer loosely on the drive side, and slot the hub into the frame. The 'stepped' ends of the axle kit are slotted into the drop-outs. Until the hub is secure, the axle kit will move in the hub.
- Tighten the drive side bolt to secure the hub in the frame, then adjust chain tension as normal with the tensioner you are using.
