The hubs in this category are 'fixed', which means the sprocket on them is fixed to the hub (either with a spline or a thread) and you need to use a freewheel on your crank arms to make your bike function correctly.
All the hubs shown below are designed to work with both 24" and 26" wheeled bikes with 135mm axle spacing. If you purchase a hub from this category, please make sure that your frame has a 135mm gap between the inside faces of the dropouts.
Almost all 24" and 26" wheeled frames are the correct spacing to work with all hubs in this category, the only exceptions are the 116mm spaced 26" wheel frames.
There are also two main types of sprocket designed to fit on these hubs - screw on and splined. The screw on sprockets can be fitted by hand (we recommend plenty of grease so they can be removed in future if required) and they self-tight when you pedal. Splined sprockets are held in place with a lock ring. Please note that the Echo hubs have a specific spline and this is not compatible with any other brand's splined sprockets.
