Following the UK leaving the EU, we completely understand that many of our international customers will have questions about what this means for them. From our latest understanding of the new regulations, there will be some changes for customers who are living n the EU.
Our latest interpretation of the rules are as follows:
- Customers living inside the EU who did not previously pay any import fees upon receiving a parcel from us: There have been significant changes, we urge you to read the following information carefully before purchasing!
You will now have to pay additional fees when receiving your parcel. The shipping company (usually Royal Mail - or equivalent in your country - or FedEx) will clear the goods through customs on arrival to your country. At this point, your country's government will calculate and add sales tax (VAT / TVA) at the current rate for your country. The shipping company pays these fees on your behalf, and then you will be billed by the shipping company. This bill will usually including a service charge to cover their work / costs for the customs clearance process and making payment to your country's government.
Because you will now pay sales tax in your country, this allows us to remove UK sales tax, which is 20%. All of our prices for EU customers will now be charged and displayed with the sales taxes removed (ie. all of our prices have had 20% VAT removed).
There is another element of international shipping in addition to sales tax, which is duty. This can be added, at varying rates depending on the item, to international shipments too. The current deal between the UK and the EU allows for imports of up to €150 (excluding shipping) duty free. Any orders over this value may have duty applied to them. This is set by customs, and not something we have any control over. We will always do our best to assist customers with any queries relating to import duty, however, in most cases, you will need to contact the shipping company or your local customs office.
We do not have any control over these fees and are not legally responsible for them. It is the responsibility of the customer to research into any fees that may be charged and pay these on arrival. You will be able to find information about this on your country's government website, or by contacting your local customs office
For full clarity, Brexit has not changed things for our other customers:
- Customers living outside the EU: no changes.
- Customers living inside the EU: Duty is payable on all orders over €150 in value (excluding postage), EXCEPT for products made in the UK, these remain Duty free. VAT (sales tax) is not charged for European customers, this must be paid on receiving the order.
Please note that the above is subject to change as we continually monitor and gain information around the subject. If you concerned about additional fees or taxes, we recommend not buying from us until we release a statement confirming that everything is 100% clear.
Don't hesitate to contact us at any time if you have any questions - thank you!
